What to Look for while Garage Sale Bargain Hunting

If you find the right items, used is just as good as new for a fraction of the cost. Garage sale season is upon us and this is a great time to look for things you need to buy while keeping in your budget.

Each garage sale is unique and full of different items you would never expect to see. Sometimes, that can be a good or bad thing depending on how you see it. We have compiled a list of items to look for while you are out garage sale bargain hunting to save some money.

  • Kitchen items are a great thing to look for at garage sales. Usually people get rid of items still in their original box because they no longer want them taking up space in their home. Look for items that are gently used and have little to no damage.

  • Kid’s clothing is typically gently worn and a fraction of the price at garage sales. Children grow so fast that some items are only worn for a month. Buying used clothes is a great idea because you get basically new items for cheap.

  • Old furniture is a worthy thing to look for at garage sales because older furniture was built better than today’s products. If it is wood, you can be creative and paint it a new color to give it a fresh feeling.

  • Craft supplies at garage sales are usually still in the original packaging, so that makes it an even better deal. If you buy these supplies at craft stores, prices can add up quickly, so garage sales are a great place to hunt for items.

  • Home décor of all kinds can be found at garage sales. If you go to sales with an open mind, the possibilities are endless. With the use of Pinterest and DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, you can use old frames to make jewelry holders or even spiff it up and use it as an upcycled frame.

Garage sale bargain hunting takes a little bit of research and planning to find what you are looking for.
