Phone Scam Alert!
On Friday, July 25, 2014, Lincoln Savings Bank (LSB) was made aware of a phone scam in our communities. Our customers and non-customers have received automated calls from a source that claims to be from Lincoln Savings Bank and other banks. They are told their debit card has been compromised and they need to validate their information by entering their card number. THIS IS A SCAM.
If you receive a call like this, DO NOT enter your card information. If you did receive a call like this and entered your card information, please do the following:
- If you are an LSB customer, contact us immediately so that we can take action to prevent any efforts to use your card fraudulently. Our toll-free number is (800) 588-7551. If it’s after LSB’s regular office hours, please call SHAZAM at (800) 383-8000.
- If you are not an LSB customer, call the bank or financial institution that issued you the card that was given over the phone.
The criminals perpetuating this scam have gathered public phone numbers and are hoping to get lucky by matching a phone number with a customer. There has been no breach of any Lincoln Savings Bank data or systems, but a criminal or group of criminals that are doing a very common form of a phone scam where they pose as a legitimate organization to get sensitive information.
Please be assured that if you are an LSB customer and provided your card information to these criminals, you are protected from any fraudulent transactions or charges.
