Community Banking Month: Lincoln Love

posted Katie Hansen 4/23/2020 in Lincoln Love

Each year, Community Banking Month spotlights the local banks who work to make a positive impact in the communities they serve. In the past, April was brimming with fun-filled events and in-branch festivities, however, this year we’ve humbled those efforts to better protect both our employees and our customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adjusting to our current environment, this spring we’ve implemented two heart-warming initiatives through our drive-thru for the month of April.

“Our employees take pride in making a difference in the communities in which we reside by donating their time, talents, or gift,” said Ashley Ungs, Marketing and Sales Operations Manager. “This year, offering coupons to area dining establishments has allowed us to support our commercial customers in their effort to remain prosperous despite ongoing obstacles. With schools out for the remainder of the school year, LSB has also partnered with Scholastic, offering reading materials to children through branch drive-thrus.”

To help bolster morale, and support the family-run restaurants around us, our Adel, Aplington, Cedar Falls, and Waterloo locations are giving away a handful of gift cards to customers that stop through our drive-thru each day. In total, this initiative supports 16 restaurants in our footprint, lifting our local neighborhoods up during this trying month.  For a list of all the participating restaurants, CLICK HERE.

“Customers have been delighted to get a $5.00 gift certificate to our AP community restaurants!” commented Aplington Branch Manager, Melanie Groeneveld. “They give us a big smile and are very thankful for thinking of them and our area restaurants during this time.”

Additionally, Allison, Ankeny, Aplington, Cedar Falls, Clive, Grinnell, Hudson, Nashua, Reinbeck, Tama, and Waterloo, are working to give away children’s books to customers who stop by branch drive-thrus. Through our partnership with Scholastic, LSB is able to help children continue reading and learning, by distributing fun and age-appropriate books to our customers and their families.

Angela Herrold, Administrative Assistant in Clive, shares, “Our customers have been very appreciative, and love that we’re supporting our local community.”

While the world around us may be changing from day-to-day Lincoln Savings Bank remains steadfast in our commitment to our customers and communities. As we’ve seen time and time again, a little Lincoln Love can go a long way!

Be sure to stop by your nearest branch to join in on the fun.

Thank you to all our customers for supporting our team throughout this time. Your appreciation and cheer have helped our front-line tellers and staff continue to go the extra mile and help those around us each and every day. We could not keep our spirits lifted without you.

As we move through April, and into May, keep in mind that as a community bank, we will always be invested in our community and seeing it thrive. One day at a time, one step at a time, we will get through this together.
